Lorraine Loots is a South African artist best known for her miniature painting series, 365 Paintings for Ants, launched in 2013. Loots set out to paint a miniature every day for an entire year, allowing people to “book” certain dates and thus own the paintings created on those days. The project was met with an astounding international response, amassing hundreds of thousands of followers online and prompting her to follow on her first collection with another year-long challenge in 2014 with a similar title. Lorraine’s first body of work flung her into the life of a full-time artist, allowing her to pursue painting as a career. That career has spanned 12 years to date, and has resulted in sold out exhibitions in major cities worldwide including New York, London, Paris and Sydney.
Loots’ work has been featured on CNN, The Huffington Post, The Daily Mail, Colossal and Architectural Digest among many others, and she currently has an Instagram following of over 304 000.
Over the years, her work has garnered not just a following, but a genuine community of passionate collectors and supporters — people who have followed her journey from the beginning and show up, time and again, to invest in her work.
